Raymond Waites, Home Furnishings Designer
Timeless treasures create a lasting impression.
"Consider the qualities you find appealing in your interior design and take those elements outdoors.
By imitating your home’s interior with classic pieces outside, the overall appeal of your home will be
enhanced by the seamless transition from indoors to outdoors."
Born in rural Demopolis, Alabama, Raymond Waites has broadened his horizons as a man of many
trades and a world traveler.
Somewhere between his studies in aeronautical engineering at Auburn University and an appointment
at the Air Force Academy, Raymond was drawn to the arts. In 1966 he graduated from New York’s Pratt
Institute, where he had explored abstract expressionist painting on a full scholarship. Over the
next few years, he expressed his passion for graphic design as the design director of an
award-winning magazine, he mastered the art of retail and package design and later Raymond
worked to cross merchandise home and fashion collections.
In the late-1970s Raymond discovered his true passion…designing for the home.
He created a line called Country, which included fabrics, lighting, wall coverings, and more.
Finally, in 1994, inspired by his travels to Southern Italy and Napa Valley, Raymond realized his
life dream of opening his own branded design firm.
Raymond has enjoyed a relationship with Laneventure for more than a decade,
during which they have partnered to create some of Laneventure’s most popular lines,
including Raymond Waites’ Vintage Garden for outdoor and his latest, called Raymond Waites’
New America, which features indoor and outdoor designs.
